Audi Q5 2.0 TDI Quattro – not the typical SUV – athletic body ready to take care of your family
Audi Q5 2.0 TDI quattro – not the typical SUV – athletic body ready to take care of your family
Audi Q5 is not the typical SUV which one would imagine. It combines elegant design, high quality interior, practicality and comfort. This makes it a unique car in urban areas as well as great for long distance travels. What also contributes to both is the 18” alloy wheels, the stiff and stable ride of the Quattro and the elegant details from the exterior S-line pack which will definitely leave you speechless.
Engine
TDI – best value for money (consumption wise).
This engine follows the trend of increasing the power yet in the same time decreasing the fuel consumption. The one that I am test driving is with the new version of the 2.0 diesel with 190hp, as the previous one was with 177hp. The official data for this Q5 states that the urban consumption is 8.2 liters per 100 kilometers which is actually pretty accurate. Having a more dynamic driving style can bring it up to 9,6l and it almost never reaches 10l. The extra urban consumption is 7-8 liters per 100k. but doing 180kph is a dead 10l per 100k. Although Q5 is an SUV the 2.0 engine is absolutely sufficient to have fun and enjoy driving with the vehicle. The ride is comfy, when accelerating it definitely glues you to the seat and that is pretty much what one can expect from the Q5. For the ones that seek the thrill out a vehicle there is something already on the market Audi SQ5 – providing the real SUV JOURNEY with a 3 liter V6 bi-turbo engine which I’ll be telling you more about in the near future.
Interior
Audi Q5 exceeds the expectations of the most sophisticated fans.
Alkantara sport seats, multifunctional 3 spoke sporty steering wheel, tinted windows in the back add to the sophisticated yet sporty elegant feel and look. There is plenty of space everywhere, your legs and head can enjoy the rides in this SUV (especially for long legged ladies like me ;)) The passengers in the back also feel very well because the SUV can fit a whole family with 2-3 kids and a dog with an ease as well as youngsters traveling a lot with a car.
Exterior
Simple and elegant – a true rarity SUV segment
I love the way the Audi brand identity is present throughout all their models no matter SUV, coupe, sedan, hatchback etc. The lifted “face” of the car and its beautiful LED contour eyes (lights) will not go unnoticed in the urban traffic or on the highway. The exterior S-line pack highlights the sporty outlook of the Q5 – front grill with vertical chrome spokes, front and back bumpers with chrome, fog lights and tail lights and many S-line signs. The trunk itself is very well thought. It is high up so you would not have to dive and dig in to reach something. That’s awesome of you have back pain 😉 You can get it with hydraulics that open and close it with a click of a button. It can really fit enough stuff for a long family holiday not excluding lots of hats, balls whatever toys the kids would need. In my case the trunk always carries for me my fitness bag, scarfs and shoes (you can never know when you’ll need exactly that pair).
I almost forgot the aluminum roof bars – the ski lovers would love that and also the surf enthusiasts. No matter which one of these the Quattro will take you there with an ease. This car is extremely stable and just does not want to slide unless you explicitly make it to. I had the pleasure to also drive it in the deep snow where I coped with more than 40cm without getting stuck or anything of the kind. I only missed a snow plough so the others could follow me where I went with this designer snow machine.
On the highway – 200kph with an ease … going down to 140 feels like you’re not moving at all. It is very well sound proofed and you just don’t hear the wind from the windows. It is just a great car and it feels great driving it. Safe and comfort in a perfect combination even in the roads near Trigrad in the Rodopi Mountains. The road there is not the greatest but after all … all the conditions are right when one drives a Quattro, right?
